The Story Behind This Cinema

The space

The project started with an underutilized basement storage area lacking acoustic treatment or defined zoning. The homeowners required a functional media space integrated into their daily living environment. The primary objective was to engineer a high-performance system without visible equipment or the aesthetics of a dedicated dark theater room.
They didn’t want:
  • complex systems
  • visible cables
  • multiple remotes
  • fragile setups that break after cleaning or moving furniture
They wanted a space that:
  • feels natural
  • works every day
  • and doesn’t require constant attention

Our approach

We treat media rooms as part of the smart home ecosystem, not as isolated AV projects.
That means:
  • lighting, sound, projection, climate, and window shades work as one system
  • one scene triggers everything
  • no technical steps, no learning curve
This cinema is activated with a single “Movie Night” scene:
  • blackout shades close
  • lights fade into soft indirect levels
  • projector and audio system power on
  • temperature adjusts for comfort
  • the room transforms

Nestology designs experience systems, not device collections

Every element was measured, calibrated, and tested on site.
  • Speaker placement was modeled and tuned (Sound calibration)
  • Acoustic reflections were minimized
  • HVAC and Projector noises were addressed
  • Lighting was designed to support vision, not fight it
  • All wiring was hidden and secured for long-term reliability
  • Developed and tuned by an engineer and musician to correspond to your needs
